Our Founder

Kelly Copeland

Kelly is the founder of Copeland Construction.  He is a native Tucsonan and 3rd generation builder. He started his career working for his uncle, building cutting edge homes in Canyon Ranch and numerous east-side Tucson luxury home communities.  He is a licensed General Contractor (ROC #302730) and Real Estate Broker (License #BR006992000) since 1985.  He has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration majoring in Finance from the University of Arizona in 1982 and a Master of Science in Bioethics from the University of Mary in 2017.  Kelly specializes in developing land, design-build projects, large scale remodels, and light commercial projects.  He continues to learn and expand his product line, from homes completely off grid to luxury homes featured in the Street of Dreams.  Specializing in Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF) provides a niche market, as well as, working with innovative smart home technology and utility conservation methods.  He works daily with all subcontractors to develop a team approach enabling a fluid building process from beginning to end. Recognizing that owners, architects, designers, landscape/pool designers, vendors, and lenders all play crucial roles in each building venture, he orchestrates the build seamlessly.  With an extensive background in finance, he is able to balance project budgets ranging from the small remodels to multimillion dollar homes; including, one of his latest completed projects, providing oversight for a $40 million hotel in downtown Sacramento, CA. With over 300 projects over the course of his career, he has the expertise and experience required to successfully bring projects from vision, implementation, and finally to a successful completion.  With the future of Copeland Construction in mind, he has brought three of his sons to the team.  They provide support to the organization and assist with all day-to-day activities from field supervision to accounting.  This next generation of builders brings an energized approach to old school values that were established by Kelly’s grandfather over 70 years ago.  Call or email Kelly for a consultation on your next dream project.

Our Team

  • Patrick T. Copeland, CPA

    Patrick joined Copeland Construction in 2023. He is the second oldest child in the Copeland family. He has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration majoring in Accounting from the University of Arizona. He received the Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) designation in February 2017 (Certificate #18390). He has over 10+ years of accounting experience working in the governmental sector along with most of his time spent in public accounting as an auditor. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Arizona Society of Public Accountants (ASCPA). His hobbies include gardening, playing basketball, camping, and hiking the beautiful Southern Arizona region. He loves to spend time with his wife and five children.

  • McKane “Mac” Copeland

    Mac has been working with Copeland Construction since 2019. He is the fourth child in the Copeland family. He has a Bachelor of Arts majoring in History from the University of Arizona.  With a wide variety of experience in management, construction, sales, and education, he brings a unique set of skills to any project.  He is an avid reader and antique collector, and enjoys exploring the local art and literature scene in Tucson.  In addition, he enjoys spending time with his wife, son, and pet rabbit.

  • John Copeland

    John has been working with Copeland construction since 2019. He is the youngest child in the Copeland family. He specializes in supervising projects from excavation, concrete, masonry, framing to the drywall stage of the building process. He also provides oversight of all building inspections. He enjoys weightlifting, camping, and playing basketball in his spare time.
